Giardia lamblia: Comparative study of three diagnostic methods, direct stool examination, modified enterotest and spontaneous sedimentation tube technique

A hundred male patients from the trops pavillions of Military Central Hospital were investigated for Giardia lamblia infection between February and March of 1994.
The average age were 19.29 years old. Three different methods were used and it was found 16 positive patients with Giardia lamblia by Spontaneus Sedimentation technics (TSE-lOO%), 13 in Modified Enterotest (81.25%) an 7 Direct Examination of Feces (43.75%)
Among the three methods used, Spontaneus Sedimentation shows a higher sensibility for Giardia lamblia and it is a simple and economic technic.
